Looking Back at 2019; Looking Ahead to 2020
A new year and a new decade bring forth many opportunities! For Graceworks, 2019 was a blessed year and 2020 is poised to be even better. Here’s a look back at our 2019:
With the holiday season behind us, the New Year is often a time for resolutions and fresh routines to make our lives more productive or balanced. Most of our resolutions often revolve around personal goals like health or relationships but I have some goals for 2020 at work, too.
For Graceworks, employee retention is a big focus. Each member of the Graceworks management team is working toward the goal of retaining more of our top talent. This also means developing talent and leaders. As an organization, we must make time to identify our rising stars and give them a chance to grow and shine. This means coaching our stars on duties outside their normal job functions and encouraging innovation and rewarding initiative. I am confident a laser focused approach on retention and talent development will help push our organization forward in 2020 and beyond.
At Graceworks, Wholeness of Life is one of our core values. In fact, it comes just after Faithfulness to Christ, meaning we put a lot of emphasis on balanced living. Many say Wholeness of Life is what we provide for our residents and clients. While this is true, we also strive for balance in the lives of our employees. We are increasing the activities of our wellness committee known as SHINE and encouraging everyone to take a few moments to focus on health each day. This might mean meditation, taking a walk or just having a casual chat with some coworkers. The SHINE mission is to educate, equip and empower employees to achieve holistic health and wellbeing. The committee is comprised of representatives from every Graceworks function. SHINE focuses on activities and programs that address healthy workforce trends. The committee reminds us that life is a marathon, not a sprint!
Every service line at Graceworks has stretch goals. I aim to be as supportive as possible to make those goals a reality. Whether we are growing Graceworks at Home, launching assisted living memory care at Bethany Village, planning how our Housing Services coordinators can support aging for persons in their local communities or adding new homes to Enhanced Living, I am aware that growth requires work. Nothing happens in a vacuum and Graceworks is a model of successful teamwork in action. Working together, we can make 2020 our best year yet!
