Bethany residents “Make Someone Smile” this week
Dorothy likes to share her smiles with others, as she demonstrated during national “Make Someone Smile” week, July 22-26. She and other residents of the Cascade community in the Bethany Village retirement community helped create smiley-face T-shirts for staff and residents to wear.
But they didn’t stop with just circles and dots and a smile arc. They insisted that each shirt should be personal, with distinctive hair and features. “I want to put her name on the back,” said Dorothy, as she presented a shirt to Angela White, Life Enrichment Coordinator.Staff members enjoyed wearing shirts and sharing flowers cookies and even more smiles than usual with residents this week in Cascade community and other areas of Bethany Village.
Thousands of florists across the country participate in “Make Someone Smile” week. Local Teleflora member florists volunteer their time to create and deliver “Be Happy” bouquets to hospital patients, senior citizens in nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
