The Banana Split Festival celebrates the invention of the banana split in a Wilmington, Ohio, drug store in 1907. The festival invites some of the area’s best chefs in a Master Competition to create a banana split using bananas and at least four of the seven ingredients used in the original banana split, then adding all the creativity the chef can muster.

Chef Eric, who provides delicious meals every day for many residents of the Bethany Village senior living community in Centerville, created a banana split with a scrumptious combination of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream with fresh cherries poached in Kirsch, toasted ground pistachios and honey roasted peanuts, local grown macerated strawberries, raspberry puree, caramelized banana, fresh pineapple compote and dark chocolate sauce:

The festival was featured on the Yahoo! Blue Ribbon Hunter video web series, as its host was one of the judges.
